Can bad posture cause neck and shoulder pain?

The answer is yes and bad posture is affecting more and more people at all stages of life.

Irrespective of whether you are standing up, sitting or lying down, good posture is crucial to allowing your muscles to fuction efficiently with the least strain.

If you have incorrect posture you will increase strain on muscles, bones and ligaments which could cause further injury and pain. With both muscles and soft issue adapting by either shortening or lengthening, this can cause imbalance leading to fatigue, stiffness and joints and pain.

As a physiotherapist, one of the most common causes of neck and shoulder pain that I see is through Forward Head Posture…..
